NCGCC Houston was formed by Rev. Michael L. Pickett as Union in 2001. It is open to all singers, musicians, pastors/ministers, gospel music lovers and all who love praising God and using their God-given musical talent in and through the wonderful genre of Gospel music. The Union unites and fellowships through music workshops, seminars, music rehearsals and preparing for participation in its annual National Convention in August. Meetings are held monthly and the Union has members in Angleton, Bay City, Houston, LaMarque, Texas City and as far as Lake Charles, Louisiana.
The National Convention was organized in 1932 by Dr. Thomas A. Dorsey, the Father of Gospel Music and writer of the famed "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" It convenes for the betterment of the Christian singer, instrumentalist, educator or leader. It is geared toward enabling the prepared Gospel ambassador and purposed to individuals might be spiritually motivated to live the message of the Gospel song.
